Online Banking

Online banking is great for business owners who are going through several different transactions in a day and those that just don't have time to make it to the bank in the middle of running all of their other errands. But we all know that we need to be careful when we're dealing with our financial accounts online. You don't need to be an expert like Dennis Gartman to know that there are many shady websites out there that are trying to get a hold of your credit card and bank information. Here are some tips for safe and efficient online banking.

Deal with a bank that you know and trust. When you're working with a bank online there are many more choices available to you than if you were dealing with a bank in person in your hometown. But, you should definitely not trust your money with just anyone who calls themselves a lending company or bank. Whether you're opening a business account for a company that makes heat shrink tubing or opening a savings account for your children's education you will want to make sure that you know as much as possible about the bank that you're dealing with. You should know where their physical branches are and should have access to a phone number where you can talk to a real person when necessary.

Be careful when you're accessing your bank's website that you are both on the correct site and that it properly encrypts your data once it's entered. Some scam sites will choose a domain name very close to the American or Canada trademark bank that you are dealing with in the hopes of catching people off guard who type in the website name incorrectly. If you're wondering if encryption software has been installed on the site than you should look for a little key or lock icon at the bottom of your browser screen. This lets you know that your information is secure within the site.

If you're online shopping with any business online than you should protect your information as carefully as you would on a banking site. Many banks now have an extra security screen which requires you to enter a password before you are allowed to use your credit card online. Those who really want to protect their wages from making test weights or savings might want to look into dealing with one of these banks.

There are many additional services out there for those that are running a business out of their home. If you're consulting on gold bullion prices or running an online store of your own you should check with your local branch to see what additional online services you qualify for with your business account.
